EU Fellow University of Miami 2015-2016
A native of Slovakia, Peter Vavrik has a Law degree from Comenius University, Faculty of Law, Bratislava, and postgraduate law studies from the Faculty of Law of Matej Bel University, Banská Bystrica. He also was awarded degrees of the European Institute for Public Administration, University of Nancy, France, and a Master of European Legal Studies in Luxembourg. He is a member of the staff at the European Parliament, where he manages policy teams of 20 bill drafters. The mission of his service (equivalent to Legislative Counsels of the US Congress) is to provide drafting assistance to the elected Members in order to ensure that Parliament's political will is rendered in high-quality legislative acts. Since mid-August he is the EU Fellow at the European Union Center/Jean Monnet Chair at the University of Miami, where he carries out a research focused on powers of EU and U.S. legislative bodies in the field of international trade and the right of legislative initiative.
